Stories from the build

What we are testing, fixing, learning and often getting wrong.

This is where we share what we are building, testing, fixing and learning.

Some ideas work. Some need several attempts. Some fail completely. Either way, they help us understand what a workplace should actually include.

Inside a daycrunch building
Lessons learnedMay 2026

Why a workplace needs more than rooms.

Rooms matter. But a working day is not only made of rooms. People need food, movement, quiet, support, access, visitors, parking and sometimes a small practical errand handled without crossing town. daycrunch® is our attempt to understand which of these things belong inside a building and which do not.

Fitness and recovery room at tecdeck
ServicesMay 2026

We thought fitness might need showers. First we are testing without them.

At tecdeck.work we are starting with fitness before adding the full shower setup. Not because showers are unimportant, but because we want to understand usage first. Do people use the room? When? Does it create enough demand to justify the next investment? The answer should come from behaviour, not from a slide deck.

The Airportal building in Glattbrugg
LocationsApril 2026

Airportal is not finished. That is the point.

Airportal already has workspaces, meeting rooms, training rooms, food and monthly offices. But the real work is still happening. We are looking at which daily services actually make sense in this building. Some ideas will be added. Some will stay on paper. Some will probably sound clever and then fail. That is why we test them in the building rather than pretending to know everything upfront.

PB³April 2026

PB³ is the boring part that makes the interesting part possible.

Access control, bookings, visitors, parking and billing are not exciting topics for most people. Fair enough. But without them, shared services become chaos. PB³ is the operating layer underneath daycrunch®. It lets rooms, services and users work together without a separate manual process for every small thing.

Smart lockers with a touch panel
OperatorsMarch 2026

The service only works if the operator can survive.

A service in a building is not useful just because it sounds nice. Someone has to operate it. Someone has to staff it. Someone has to make money from it. That is why we are careful with new services. The model has to work for users, for the building and for the operator. Otherwise it is not sustainable. It is just decoration.

An empty meeting room
Lessons learnedMarch 2026

The empty room is useful data.

An empty room is annoying. It is also useful. It tells us something is wrong. Maybe the price is wrong. Maybe the name is wrong. Maybe the setup is wrong. Maybe nobody needs that use case in that location. The important thing is not to defend the room. The important thing is to learn from it.

A fresh fruit basket in the building
ServicesFebruary 2026

We are not trying to add every service everywhere.

Not every building needs every service. A fitness room might make sense in one location and fail in another. Food may work where there is enough daily population. Health services may need the right operator and the right rhythm. The aim is not a long list of amenities. The aim is to find out what genuinely improves the working day.

Behind the scenesFebruary 2026

Workplace, but less theatre.

A lot of workplace language has become strangely dramatic. Everything is transformative. Everything is curated. Everything is a premium experience. We are trying to be more practical. Does the room work? Can people get in? Can they book it? Can the operator deliver? Does anyone come back? That is already enough work.

Want to test something with us?

If you operate a service, run a building or have an idea worth trying in a real location, we would like to hear it. Stories is where we write up what happens next.

Stories is the source. Social is the distribution. We publish here first, then share the short version.
